Medals system for F1
I think not! On the one hand I understand Bernie wants drivers to take more risks in order to improve the show but the drivers already had trophies and in any case the FIA study showed that Brabham drivers would have had no championships and Massa would have been the champion last year.
Well, we all know that Massa was handed the Spa win and that most fundamentally the drivers were racing under the rules set before them. Fact is F1 has never enjoyed such close competition in years and it can only get better with all the rule changes and FIA led cost cutting proposals. I think idea is rubbish and tweaking the rules to make drivers take risks for a win would be better served by having 7 points for 2nd place.
I also think having a point for qualifying would lead to small teams going light on fuel which would mean that the smaller teams not only get a financially helpful point but also potentially a reverse grid format that Flavio Briatore so badly craves. The front running teams will not want to compromise strategy and will therefore compromise the point in order to win the race.

Well, I think this might be a good way to encourage overtaking in the front, since its 1st to 3rd or nothing. BUT what is that gonna do to the rest of the field? They are going to have nothing to play for and not try so hard to make F1 a spectacle.
