Webber scores his 1st win at the Nurburgring GP

At last, Webber who seemed destined to become the nearly man of F1 has finally got a win from pole position despite a drive through penalty for bumping Rubens Barrichello at the start.  Sebastian Vettel completed the Red Bull 1-2 having had a miserable start from 4th to lose a couple of places only to be stuck behind the KERS powered slow coach McLaren Mercedes of Heikki Kovailanen.  Felipe Massa did well for Ferrari rounding the podium for 3rd.

Rubens got red mist having lashed out at the Brawn GP team for losing the race and a place to Jenson Button in the pit stops.  The trouble is Rubens got stuck behind Massa which allowed Mark Webber to reel him in, the 3 stop strategy didn’t help and as Ross Brawn alluded to, you cannot win a race by having the 11th fastest lap.

By contrast, Sebastian Vettel did an extremely good job to make it up to 2nd from 4th so thats a really good performance all things considered.  Rosberg also did well to make 4th although that was more due the Ruben’s pit stop going wrong as the result of a fuel hose.

Alonso also made some ground with the fastest lap of the race showing the Renault has definitely made steps forward in their package.

Raikkonen had another forgettable performance having had a another racing incident with Adrian Sutil (which was Adrian’s fault) and an engine failure.
