Is Hamilton the true champion of 2008?
I think so. At the end of the day, he did the best job and scored the most points. I think most people would agree that he would have been mugged as he was last year if Felipe Massa won instead. One only has to reflect on the performances during the 2008 season such as emerging through the extremely wet British Grand Prix, claiming the processional yet clinical win in Shanghai despite the media pressure, I’m sure there are more but no one can doubt Lewis Hamilton is the true champion.
Commiserations to Massa who was indeed gracious in defeat. He was highly emotional as he probably suspects that he may not get this chance again after a freak Kimi season in which the Finn was uncompetitive. I doubt Raikkonen and Ferrari would be silly enough to let such a silly season to repeat itself and thats reflected in the planned winter testing programme for Kimi as defacto team leader.
Still a great season finale with a deserving champion.
